Manitoba RCMP have recently recovered a large quantity of stolen property as the result of a recent property search that occurred in the Rural Municipality of Gimli, Manitoba.
As a result of an ongoing investigation, officers with the Manitoba East District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST) unit, along with assistance from the Gimli RCMP Detachment, RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Police Dog Services (PDS), executed a search warrant at a property located in the RM of Gimli.
The search of the property resulted in the seizure of a snowmobile, multiple trailers, construction equipment, a camper, firearms, cash, cocaine and other controlled substances. Some of the recovered property had been reported stolen from multiple locations across southern Manitoba.
RCMP report that 48-year-old Michel Verrier, from the RM of Gimli, was arrested and remanded into custody on charges including possession of stolen property, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and numerous firearms-related offences. Police noted that a 48-year-old female and 30-year-old male, both from Winnipeg, were also arrested on scene and released for a later court date.
“For the second time this month, RCMP officers have recovered tens of thousands of dollars worth of stolen property,” said Insp. Brent Lemieux, RCMP East District Operations Officer. “The Manitoba East District CREST unit is dedicated to reducing property crime in rural Manitoba.”
