A 28-year-old Steinbach man was recently arrested and charged after police seized a quantity of stolen goods resulting from a traffic stop in the community.
On November 12, 2023, at approximately 12:40am, an RCMP officer on patrol spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen a day prior. The vehicle was seen in a parking lot of a business located on Brandt Street in Steinbach.
Police say that the officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver and sole occupant without incident. A search of the driver and vehicle followed, which resulted in the seizure of several stolen tools, jewelry and a wallet with identification.
Further police investigation linked the suspect to two other ongoing theft investigations.
RCMP report that 28-year-old Nathan Botham of Steinbach is now facing numerous charges related to this incident, including possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failing to comply.
Botham was remanded into custody and Steinbach RCMP continue to investigate.
