A 30-year-old Regina man has been arrested and charged in connection to a recent theft incident that occurred at a business located in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba.
Portage la Prairie RCMP recently responded to a report of a shoplifter at a business located in the 2200 block of Saskatchewan Avenue, in the community.
Police were advised that a male suspect had entered the store, began removing items from the shelves and placing them into his backpack. When confronted by employees, the suspect denied the theft and exited the store on foot.
Responding officers pulled up to the business and observed the suspect nearby. The man was subsequently arrested without incident.
A search of the suspect led to the seizure of a concealed replica firearm as well as the recovery of the stolen items.
RCMP report that 30-year-old Jonathan Shore, of Regina, was found to have an outstanding warrant of arrest out of Calgary. He was remanded into custody on charges of theft under $5,000, carrying a concealed weapon and weapons possession contrary to an Order.
