Gillam RCMP are currently searching for a 38-year-old male suspect who is wanted in connection to a recent homicide that occurred at an isolated camp, located approximately 75 km east of Split Lake, Manitoba.
On August 26, 2024, at approximately 11:55am, Gillam RCMP responded to a report of a shooting that occurred near Split Lake. RCMP and Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene and located a deceased 53-year-old male from Tataskweyak Cree Nation. His death was the result of homicide.
Officers learned that the suspect had fled the area prior to police arrival and that the suspect and victim were known to each other.
RCMP report that on August 27, 38-year-old Jamie Flett, of Tataskweyak Cree Nation, was charged with second degree murder. There is currently a warrant out for his arrest.
Jamie Flett is described as 5’9″ tall, weighs 175 lbs, has black hair and brown eyes.
Gillam RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crime Services, are currently searching for Flett. He is believed to be in the Split Lake or Gillam area.
