The body of a three-year-old boy was discovered in the Poplar River on the Poplar River First Nation this past week, after a search was conducted by RCMP and community members.
On June 2, 2017, at approximately 5pm, Poplar River RCMP received a report of a missing three-year-old boy. The boy was with family at a waterfront residence on Poplar River in Poplar River First Nation at the time he went missing.
Community members and RCMP officers started a search at local residences and along the shoreline for the child. The search expanded into the river, with community members and RCMP looking for the boy in the water. Just before 9pm, community members located the deceased body of the boy in the water.
RCMP continue to investigate this incident, though at this point, foul play is not suspected.
