Steinbach RCMP are reporting a busy long weekend for local officers after responding to 84 calls for service from November 8 through 11.
On November 8, at 8:47pm, a report of an impaired driver was received near Market Boulevard. Officers attended the area and located the vehicle. Police say that the male driver, from La Broquerie, failed the roadside screening devices and was brought back to the detachment to provide breath samples. The results showed that the man was double the legal limit.
On November 9, at 2:34am, members were conducting patrols near the east side of Steinbach. As a result, a male driver, from Steinbach, was also arrested for impaired driving and brought back to the detachment to provide breath samples. The results were over double the legal limit.
Police say that charges are pending for both individuals.
On November 11, RCMP received a tip resulting in an investigation in the RM of Ste. Anne. As a result of the tip, the following individuals were arrested:
- Jeffry Carlson from La Broquerie
- Rodney Guimond from Winnipeg
- Robert Lagasse from Steinbach
- Dustin Shelton from Winnipeg
RCMP report that a snowmobile, trailer, lawnmower, SUV and other items were recovered in the investigation. Officers noted that the majority of the items were from two Break and Enters earlier in the day near Brunkild, Manitoba.
Over 100 charges have been laid in this investigation and all 4 male suspects were remanded into custody.
