Steinbach RCMP are reporting that a 78-year-old female has died as the result of a recent house fire in Richer, Manitoba.
On December 2, 2024, at approximately 8:30pm, Steinbach RCMP responded to a report of a fire at a residence located on Dawson Road in Richer. Officers noted that Richer Fire Department and EMS were already battling the blaze upon their arrival.
Members learned that there was an unaccounted-for person still inside the residence. Despite efforts made by emergency responders, a 78-year-old female was pronounced deceased on scene.
RCMP report that a 14-year-old male youth was able to escape, and was taken by STARS to hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and minor injuries.
Steinbach RCMP continue to investigate this incident.
