Steinbach RCMP are reporting that a 58-year-old man has died after his skid-steer recently fell through the ice on a pond located at an address in the Rural Municipality of Hanover.
On December 24, 2024, at 1:30pm, Steinbach RCMP responded to a report of a skid-steer loader that had fallen through some ice on a pond. RCMP attended the scene, along with local fire and EMS.
Police were soon after advised that a 58-year-old male was operating a skid-steer loader on the pond when it went through the ice.
With the assistance of the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART), the body of the 58-year-old male was recovered later that same afternoon.
Steinbach RCMP continue to investigate this incident.
