Manitoba RCMP are reporting that two individuals were arrested and charged after a joint law enforcement operation recently seized a substantial quantity of drugs at the Winnipeg airport.
On December 19 and 22, 2024, members from the Manitoba Integrated Law Enforcement Team (MILET) and the Roving Traffic Unit (RTU), seized a large quantity of drugs from two individuals at the Winnipeg Richardson International Airport.
Police say that on December 19, 32-year-old Kenneth Ross, of Gods Lake Narrows, was attempting to board a flight to Gods River, Manitoba, when he was arrested. A search of the suspect resulted in the seizure of 49 grams of methamphetamine. Ross was subsequently charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
On December 22, a 30-year-old female from Gods River was also attempting to board a flight to Gods River, when she had a package seized by security. The package contained 67 grams of cocaine, and 56 grams of methamphetamine. Okemow has been also been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
RCMP estimate the community street value of the drugs seized of being between $50,000 to $70,000.
