Three male suspects have been arrested and charged after police responded to shots being fired at a residence in the Rural Municipality of Gimli, Manitoba.
Gimli RCMP recently responded to a report of gunshots from a residence located on Highway 8 in the local municipality. After arriving on scene, officers learned that three male suspects had come to the residence, threatened the male occupant, and kicked in the front door.
Police say that before fleeing, the victim’s dogs chased the suspects, one of which was shot resulting in injuries to the animal.
Officers immediately began patrols for the suspect vehicle and, through their investigation, located the three suspects at a residence that was being rented out in Gimli.
A search warrant was executed at the residence and RCMP seized a .357 Magnum, $17,000 in cash and a variety of prescription medication.
All three suspects were arrested without incident at this residence.
RCMP report that 23-year-old Arthur Mills, 18-year-old J’ziah Cassanova, along with a 17-year-old male youth, all from Mississauga, Ontario, have been charged in connection to this incident. Charges include break and enter, assault, reckless discharge of a firearm, and using a firearm in the commission of an offence. Members noted that the suspects are also facing various drug trafficking and criminal code offences.
RCMP advise that this incident was not random, and there is no threat to the public.
