On September 8, 2017, at approximately 8:50pm, officers from the Morden and Carman RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Provincial Road 306, located five kilometres south of Plum Coulee, in the RM of Rhineland, Manitoba.
Police investigators believe a southbound automobile, being driven by a 20-year-old Altona woman, hit the shoulder of the roadway and over corrected, causing the vehicle to collide head-on with a northbound motorcycle. The 54-year-old male driver of the motorcycle, along with his 53-year-old female passenger, both from Winkler, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The female driver of the automobile and her 20-year-old female passenger suffered only minor injuries.
RCMP report that alcohol is not a factor in the collision and both occupants of the automobile were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the incident.
Officers from both the Morden and Carman RCMP Detachments along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
