Selkirk RCMP along with the help of Police Dog Eddie made two arrests in a recent stolen vehicle investigation.
On November 3, 2017, at approximately 3:15am, Selkirk RCMP were on patrol on Main Street in Selkirk, Manitoba, when they spotted a SUV that was reported stolen. The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over with no success. Traveling at slow speeds, the driver entered East Selkirk and eventually became hung up when he attempted to drive through a farmyard. When the driver could not go any further, two occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Police Dog Services were dispatched and Police Dog Eddie, along his handler, arrived on scene and immediately located a female in the farmyard where she was taken into custody. Eddie then proceeded to locate the male driver inside a cargo trailer in a garage.
RCMP report that a 32-year-old man, along with a 25-year-old woman, both from Winnipeg, are facing numerous charges including possessing property obtained by crime valued over $5,000.
