On January 17, 2018, at approximately 9am, Gillam RCMP responded to a workplace incident at the Limestone Hydro Dam work site.
Initial police investigation has determined that a 22-year-old male, from Lake Manitoba First Nation, was securing metal sheets on a flatbed truck when two of the 15-foot sheets moved in his direction and struck him.
Police say that emergency services were called immediately and that the victim was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health is collaborating with the RCMP and has also initiated an independent investigation under the Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations.
