Early in the morning hours of February 21, 2018, Hanover School Division (HSD) learned of a threat made toward the Niverville Collegiate Institute (NCI) by a student. HSD noted that the threat took place online through a social media post.

“We take all threats of this nature very seriously,” said Randy Dueck, Superintendent-CEO. “Therefore local RCMP were contacted immediately.”

RCMP responded to the situation and are actively investigating. Dueck noted that HSD has been assured that the school is safe, and that lockdown of NCI is not necessary.

Dueck said that the incident will be reviewed, and HSD will work with all involved to ensure that schools continue to be a safe and respectful environment for students and staff.
