57-year-old Ivan Valintine Cesnik was arrested by RCMP in Calgary, Alberta on February 27, 2018 and transported to Winnipeg to face charges related to multiple sexual assaults committed on girls as young as seven.
On January 22, 2018, Oakbank RCMP received a report regarding a historical sexual assault involving four female victims, three aged eight and one aged seven. Officers immediately launched an investigation and it was determined that Cesnik had committed the assaults at his residence in Garson, Manitoba, and at a rural residence in the RM of Springfield. The assaults occurred over a period of time between 2010 and 2015. Police say that Cesnik moved to Calgary around that time and no longer had contact with his victims.
RCMP report that Cesnik is facing numerous charges including sexual assault, uttering threats, sexual interference and administering a noxious substance.
RCMP are concerned there may be more victims in the Manitoba, Alberta and Kelowna, British Columbia area. Anyone who has information is encouraged to reach out to the police.
