The Hanover School Division Board of Trustees have announced that Principals have been appointed for both Niverville and Steinbach.
Mrs. Kimberley Funk has been selected as the first Principal of the new high school in Niverville. Scheduled to open in September 2019, the new school will serve 450 Grades 9-12 students. Mrs. Funk has been the Vice Principal of Landmark Collegiate since 2013, and will transition into her new role beginning February 2019. Previous to Mrs. Funk’s current position, she was Guidance Counsellor at Steinbach Regional Secondary School from 2010-2013. Mrs. Funk will bring teaching experience to her new role, having taught at Mitchell Elementary School and Mitchell Middle School from 2000-2010, and at Niverville Elementary School from 1994-1999.
Mrs. Karen Fraser has been appointed Principal of Woodlawn School, effective August 1, 2018. Mrs. Fraser has been Vice Principal of Woodlawn School since 2015, which includes a term appointment as Interim Principal in 2016. Previous to Mrs. Fraser’s current position, she was Resource Teacher at Woodlawn School from 2009-2015. Mrs. Fraser will bring teaching experience to her new role, having taught at Woodlawn School from 2003-2009. Prior to joining the Hanover School Division in 2003, she also held teaching positions in Seine River, Louis Riel, and Prairie Rose School Divisions.
Mr. Vince Hiebert has been appointed Principal of Elmdale School, effective August 1, 2018. Mr. Hiebert has been Vice Principal and Learning Support Teacher at Blumenort School since 2015. Previous to Mr. Hiebert’s current position, he was Curriculum Support Teacher for Hanover School Division from 2013-2015. Mr. Hiebert will bring teaching experience to his new role, having taught at Clearspring Middle School from 2012-2015 and at Woodlawn School from 2007-2012. Prior to joining the Hanover School Division in 2007, he held a teaching position in the Sunrise School Division.
