Due to this spring’s dry conditions and the current weather forecast calling for warmer temparatures, the RM of Hanover has implemented a Fire Ban for the entire municipality, effective at 5pm, Monday, April 16, 2018.
The fire ban targets the intentional setting of fires in grass and brush. Fires in enclosed backyard fire pits are permitted and must be supervised at all times, however ratepayers are reminded to use caution and should not start a backyard fire in the approved pits if wind velocity is in excess of 32 KPH.
The RM notes that no burning permits will be issued until conditions improve. Anyone witnessing an out of control fire situation is urged to call 911.
The ban will run through until conditions improve. Persons who contravene this ban and are found guilty of starting a fire may be subject to stiff fines and penalties.
The RM of Hanover Fire Ban follows suit to the bans already declared in the neighbouring RM’s of Ste. Anne and Ritchot. Residents are asked to check www.hanovermb.ca and the five community electronic billboards for up to date municipal news and fire ban status.

The RM of Hanover has announced that the Fire Ban has been lifted as of 11am on Friday, May 18, 2018.
