The governments of Canada and Manitoba are making significant progress creating new child-care spaces for families, with 1,075 new infant, preschool, nursery and school-aged spaces opening in Manitoba since late 2025.

Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services is currently investigating the recent death of a four-year-old female child that occurred at a residence located in Long Plain First Nation.

Manitoba Agriculture reports the province’s farmers have started this year’s harvest. Anne Kirk, a cereal crop specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, says warm dry weather over the past week has allowed the harvest to get underway.
