At approximately 3:15pm on October 1, 2016, Steinbach RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway, approximately two and a half kilometres west of Highway 12.

Police say that a westbound vehicle rolled and landed in the north ditch of the highway. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, a 29-year-old Ontario man, was transported to Winnipeg hospital in serious condition.

RCMP report that alcohol is believed to be a factor in this collision. Police believe that the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.

An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
