The province made two appointments to the Francophone Affairs Advisory Council (FAAC), including Mona Moquin of La Broquerie, Manitoba.
“The Francophone Affairs Advisory Council helps enhance the vitality of Manitoba’s Francophonie and benefits from the continued support of passionate community members,” said Sustainable Development Minister Rochelle Squires. “I am eager to continue productive discussions with the council as we work toward our common goals.”
Squires welcomed one new appointment to the council, Mona Moquin of La Broquerie. Moquin is a teacher at Centre Scolaire Léo-Rémillard who has served as vice-president for the Union nationale métisse Saint-Joseph du Manitoba.
The minister announced the reappointment of Alexandre Brassard of Winnipeg. Brassard is dean of arts and sciences and a professor of political science at Université de Saint-Boniface and a previous member of the Ontario Provincial Advisory Council on Francophone Affairs.
Jacob Atangana-Abé of Winnipeg, G. Aileen Clark of Winnipeg and Louis Tétrault of La Broquerie continue to serve terms on FAAC.
Deputy ministers of five specific government departments sit on FAAC by virtue of their position. The minister welcomed three deputy ministers recently hired in their roles, Grant Doak (Manitoba Education and Training), Dave Wright (Manitoba Justice) and Sarah Harrison (Manitoba Sport, Culture and Heritage) and acknowledged the continued service of Jay Rodgers (Manitoba Families) and Karen Herd (Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living).
