Portage la Prairie RCMP are asking the public for any information that may be connected to a recent abduction incident involving a 29-year-old woman.
On March 15, 2019, at approximately 2:30pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a call from a 29-year-old female indicating that she had just managed to escape a male who had abducted her.
Police investigation determined that the female was walking on Crescent Avenue West in Portage la Prairie at approximately 12:30pm, when a male in a blue Toyota car, with rust over the rear passenger wheel, pulled up along side the female. The male, who appeared to be in his 50’s, asked for directions and then forced the female into the front passenger seat.
The suspect then drove the female down some back roads before the female was able to convince the suspect to take her to a restaurant in Portage la Prairie. While in the restaurant, the female was able to distance herself from the suspect and sought help from a customer. The customer got the victim to safety and police were called.
The suspect is believed to be approximately 50 years of age. At the time of the abduction, he was wearing a grey sweater or hoody, a green hat and possibly green pants.
