Small Business Week, which runs October 16 to 22, 2016, showcases a vital segment of Manitoba’s economy.

“This week gives us the opportunity to highlight Manitoba’s entrepreneurs – the many creative and dedicated individuals whose successes are a very important part of our provincial economy,” said Growth, Enterprise and Trade Minister Cliff Cullen. “Small Business Week honours the achievements of small and medium-sized businesses across the province, the trailblazers with a dream.”

Small Business Week activities in Manitoba are organized with the support of Entrepreneurship Manitoba. Small Business Week 2016 is an annual celebration of entrepreneurship sponsored by the Business Development Bank of Canada to recognize the contributions and achievements of Canadian entrepreneurs and small businesses. It celebrates entrepreneurs at the local, provincial and national levels. This year’s theme is ‘Measure up! Shape your future.’

Small businesses, which employ between one and 99 employees, employ 72 per cent of the Manitoban workforce and are the fastest growing business sector in the province, the minister noted.
