On October 16, 2016, just after 4:30am, Steinbach RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 207, just east of Provincial Road 31.
Police say that the car had rolled and landed in the ditch on the north side of Highway 207. The passenger of the vehicle, a 17-year-old male from Lorette, Manitoba, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased on scene. The 17-year-old male driver, also from Lorette, was taken to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP believe that the driver was wearing a seatbelt, but the passenger was not. It is believed that alcohol was a factor in the collision.
An RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
