The City of Steinbach is reporting that the tennis courts, located at the corner of Third Street and Lumber Avenue, will soon be having pickleball lines added to accommodate more entertainment options for local residents.
On Friday, June 7, the local tennis courts will be closed during the day. The closure is necessary to add pickleball lines to all three courts. Pickleball is a court sport growing in popularity that has features of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles and a ball, similar to a waffle ball, to play over the net.
Pickleball line painting will be weather dependant, however, if all goes well, the courts are expected to be dry and ready for use again on Friday evening.
The City notes that the tennis, and now pickleball, courts are open from April through October, weather permitting.
