Farm Credit Canada (FCC), along with its partners, participating schools and volunteers, have provided over 6.7 million meals for food banks nationwide, far surpassing this year’s goal.
“FCC Drive Away Hunger is about working with our partners, FCC offices and schools across Canada toward a common goal of reducing hunger in our communities,” said Michael Hoffort, FCC president and CEO. “It draws an important connection between those who produce our food and those in need of a helping hand.”
“I’m once again overwhelmed by the generous support of our customers and partners – we couldn’t have done this without them,” Hoffort said.
FCC Drive Away Hunger involves driving a tractor and trailer through communities to collect food and cash donations for food banks across the country. During the week of October 10, FCC teams drove tractors through communities in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick.
“We believe in this cause and we’re thankful to everyone who contributed – from the hundreds of employees who participated in their company’s food drive to the students who took the time to collect items from home to donate through their school,” Hoffort said. “No matter the size of the donation, it all makes a huge difference in someone’s life.”
