The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) is investigating after six people were injured in a motor vehicle collision involving a Winnipeg police vehicle.
On July 15, 2019, Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) notified the IIU of an incident occurring on July 13th around 7:18 p.m. WPS advised that a police vehicle traveling west on Aberdeen Avenue at a high rate of speed continued through an intersection, colliding with a vehicle traveling north on Salter Street. All four occupants of the passenger vehicle and two police officers were transported to hospital, treated and released.
Although there were no serious injuries, the civilian director has determined it is in the public interest for the IIU to investigate.
