A 65-year-old man from Lac du Bonnet was recently located by RCMP after he called police stating that he had gotten lost while hunting in an area off of PR 214.
On November 9, 2020, at approximately 4:30 pm, Lac du Bonnet RCMP received a call from a lost hunter, a 65-year-old man from Lac du Bonnet. The man advised police that he was out hunting and had gotten lost. He explained that he had parked his vehicle off of PR 214, by some gravel pits, but now could not find his vehicle. The hunter was currently on foot near a swamp, did not have any food or water, and was unsure how long his cellphone battery would last.
RCMP officers responded and located the man’s vehicle on Snoman trail 760, south of PR 214.
Police began searching the area and a number of resources were deployed to assist with the search. Assisting in the search were RCMP Police Dog Services, Search and Rescue, Office of the Fire Commissioner, Lac du Bonnet Fire Department and Whitemouth Fire Department.
RCMP report that the search continued into the early morning hours, and at approximately 3am, Search and Rescue located the man in a swampy area. He was in good health and was able to walk out with searchers. Police noted that the hunter did not require medical attention.
