Steinbach RCMP are reporting that three individuals from Winnipeg were arrested and charged in connection to a recent theft at the Real Canadian Superstore located on Highway 12 North in Steinbach.

On December 21, 2020, at 8:17 pm, Steinbach RCMP were advised by a manager at the Real Canadian Superstore in Steinbach that there had been a suspicious female within the store. Officers attended the store and learned that a 45-year-old Winnipeg woman had filled two carts with groceries and left the store without paying for them.

Officers were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle outside the store. As a result, groceries were observed in the back seat and a check of the trunk revealed a number of other stolen items.

RCMP report that the driver of the vehicle, a 38-year-old Winnipeg man, was arrested. He has been remanded in custody related to warrants for his arrest from Winnipeg Police. RCMP noted that the driver was also on court imposed conditions not to attend any Superstore.

Police say that a store employee then identified a third  female accomplice who exited the store without paying. Officers located the suspect in the parking lot and arrested her. Officers stated that the woman was 40 years of age and was also from Winnipeg.

RCMP confirmed that all individuals connected to this crime have been charged with theft under $5,000.
