On January 8, 2017, at approximately 10:30pm, Little Grand Rapids RCMP executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act warrant at a residence in Little Grand Rapids First Nation, Manitoba. The First Nation is a dry community, meaning the possession of alcohol is illegal.
Police officers suspected a local resident of bringing alcohol into the community and executed the warrant accordingly. As a result of the search, 202 bottles of whiskey and one bottle of vodka, as well as marijuana packaged for sale, were seized.
RCMP report that a 33-year-old male from the community was arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking marijuana and unlawful possession of liquor. He was released to appear in court in Little Grand Rapids in March, 2017.
