On January 24, 2017, after completing a four-month investigation, Turtle Mountain RCMP have charged a 34-year-old male from Belmont, Manitoba in relation to a fatal collision.

On September 17, 2016, at approximately 9:10pm, Turtle Mountain RCMP responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Highway 23 in the RM of Prairie Lakes, Manitoba, approximately one kilometre east of the Town of Ninette. Upon arrival, police found a deceased male on the road, who was identified as the driver. Upon further investigation, police determined the 32-year-old man from Belmont was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the collision. Two other males, the suspect and a 23-year-old male from Brandon, were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of police investigation, Johny Quevedo has been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and obstructing justice. Quevedo will appear in Boissevain Provincial Court on February 22, 2017.

RCMP noted that the deceased was not wearing a seatbelt and that the other two occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.
