Overnight from February 10 to February 11, 2017, RCMP intercepted two groups of people illegally crossing the border at Emerson, Manitoba.
Police say that the first group was five individuals and the second group was 16. In total, RCMP arrested 21 people for illegally crossing the border. All of these individuals requested to make refugee claims and were taken to the Canada Border Services Agency port at Emerson so they could do so.
RCMP noted that there were no apprehensions for illegally crossing the border overnight from February 11 to February 12.
