A 59-year-old Rosengart man has died as the result of a recent hunting incident that occurred at a location south of Elma, Manitoba.
On October 5, 2021, at 7:55pm, Lac du Bonnet RCMP responded to a report of an adult male suffering from a gun shot wound at a location in a wooded area off of Silver Bridge Road, south of Elma.
Officers attended to the scene and were advised that a 59-year-old Rosengart man had been pronounced deceased.
Police investigation determined that the victim was shot by a 45-year-old man who had been hunting in the area. The victim and the 45-year-old man were not known to each other and were not hunting together when the incident occurred.
RCMP report that on October 6, 45-year-old Carsten Aust, a German citizen, was charged with manslaughter.
Lac du Bonnet RCMP, along with assistance from Major Crime Services, RCMP Forensic Identification Services and Manitoba Conservation Officer Service continue to investigate this incident.
