Manitoba RCMP, along with the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS), have released the results of the 2023 Holiday Checkstop Program. The program took place from December 1, 2023, through January 1, 2024.
The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) and the Manitoba RCMP have joined forces to launch the 2023 holiday Checkstop program. While road safety is top of mind for police throughout the year, the increase in travellers, particularly those who are out celebrating the season, is one of the reasons that enforcement like Checkstops is necessary.
During the three day period of March 10 to March 12, 2023, Manitoba North District RCMP conducted an initiative along the winter roads to disrupt and deter the bootlegging of alcohol and other contraband goods that enter many of the northern communities.
Week four of the RCMP Holiday Checkstop Program, from December 23, 2019 to January 1, 2020, has resulted in over 2190 vehicles checked across Manitoba during 80 checkstops.
Week three of the RCMP Holiday Checkstop Program, from December 16-22, 2019, has resulted in over 3480 vehicles being checked across Manitoba during 97 checkstops.
Week two of the 2019 RCMP Holiday Checkstop Program, from from December 9-15, 2019, has resulted in over 2500 vehicles being checked across Manitoba during 121 checkstops.
Week one of the 2019 RCMP Holiday Checkstop Program, from December 1-8, 2019, has resulted in over 3700 vehicles checked across Manitoba during 99 checkstops.
The final week of the RCMP Holiday Checkstop program from December 24, 2018, to January 1, 2019, has resulted in 47 checkstops conducted across Manitoba with approximately 1433 vehicles checked.
Week three of the RCMP Holiday Checkstop Program, from December 17-23, 2018, has resulted in 68 checkstops conducted across Manitoba with approximately 4,000 vehicles checked.
Week two of the RCMP Holiday Checkstop Program, from December 10 to 16, 2018, has resulted in 70 checkstops conducted around Manitoba with approximately 3530 vehicles being checked.
