The Manitoba government is introducing the Sector Support Program to provide up to $22 million in further support for businesses affected by the most recent COVID-19 public health orders.

With the Omicron COVID-19 variant spreading rapidly throughout the province, MPI has announced that, effective Dec. 23, all oral knowledge test appointments will be cancelled until further notice as a precautionary measure. No new appointments will be made available at this time.

Today’s five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 9.9 per cent provincially and 10.6 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on December 12, 2021, 702 new cases of the virus have been identified since Monday: 302 cases on Tuesday, Dec. 21; 400 cases today.

The province is clarifying public health orders announced on Friday, December 17, 2021. The orders went into effect on Tuesday, December 21 at 12:01am and expire on January 11, 2022.

Today’s five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 8 per cent provincially and 8.1 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on December 12, 2021, 809 new cases of the virus have been identified since Friday: 276 cases on Saturday, Dec. 18; 333 cases on Sunday, Dec. 19; and 200 cases today.

Manitoba is making rapid tests available to students in kindergarten to Grade 6 at First Nations schools as a first step in providing kits for students across the province.

Due to the increased threat of the omicron variant of concern, rising COVID-19 cases and a growing strain on the health-care system, Manitoba is taking additional steps to help curb the spread of the virus in the fourth wave of the pandemic.

Today’s five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 6.5 per cent provincially and 5.5 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on December 17, 2021, 457 new cases of the virus have been identified since Wednesday: 218 cases on Thursday, Dec. 16; and 239 cases today.

Today’s five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 6.2 per cent provincially and 4.4 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on December 15, 2021, 370 new cases of the virus have been identified since Monday: 164 cases on Tuesday, Dec. 14; and 206 cases today.

The Manitoba Pandemic Paid Sick Leave Program, established to help cover the costs of employee sick leave related to COVID-19, is being extended until March 31, 2022.
