Twenty-five new, full-time rural paramedic positions in the northern and southern health regions will be filled later this year as part of the Manitoba government’s continuing efforts to strengthen the emergency medical services system and provide a more consistent level of care throughout the province.

The Manitoba Newborn Screening Program will expand its screening for all newborn children to include severe combined immune deficiency, a group of rare genetic diseases affecting a child’s immune system.

The province is providing more than $546,000 to support new resources for RCMP detachments across the province including $200,000 to expand the use of the HealthIM assessment tool and significant investments to make communities safer.
