Over the last five years in Manitoba, an estimated 60 vehicles have fallen through thin/unsafe ice during early December and spring, according to Manitoba Public Insurance. Ice fishing should be a fun activity – not life threatening.

For the second time this year, Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) will be providing immediate financial relief to its policyholders. MPI customers will receive a total of $69 million, which is about $100 per policyholder.
