The Manitoba government has created a new grant program, the Orange Shirt Day Fund, to support events and activities that encourage Manitobans to reflect on the impacts of the residential school system.
The Manitoba government introduced Bill 4, the Employment Standards Code Amendment and Interpretation Amendment Act, that would establish Sept. 30 as a provincial statutory holiday in the province, namely National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
As Orange Shirt Day approaches on Sept. 30, the Manitoba government is supporting community events and programming that promote awareness of the history and legacy of residential schools and encourage meaningful discussions on past and ongoing injustices.
