The Manitoba government has proclaimed August 31 as International Overdose Awareness Day to acknowledge Manitobans whose lives have been lost to drug poisoning and raise awareness of the risks of drug use.
Due to the wildfire season, Manitoba Health, Seniors and Long-Term Care encourages Manitobans to regularly check local weather and air-quality conditions and learn more about protecting themselves if wildfire smoke results in worsened air quality.
Manitoba Health is advising of the first confirmed case of monkeypox in the province. A public health investigation, including contact tracing, is ongoing but indicates acquisition likely occurred outside of the province.
