The War Amps is beginning its 2023 key tag mailing to Steinbach and surrounding area this week. The Key Tag Service was launched in 1946 so that returning war amputee veterans could not only work for competitive wages, but also provide a service to Canadians that would generate funds for the Association’s many programs, including CHAMP.

Steinbach MLA and Justice Minister Kelvin Goertzen, announced that three new operating rooms will be constructed as part of a new surgery department to increase surgery capacity at Bethesda Regional Health Centre in Steinbach.

This past weekend, Steinbach RCMP were involved in a traffic enforcement effort that yielded a number of tickets being handed out for driving related incidents in the community.

Steinbach RCMP are reporting that a Polaris quad was recently stolen from a residence located on Road 35 North in the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie. It is believed an unknown suspect stole the quad between the evening of April 8 and the evening of April 10, 2023.

Steinbach RCMP are asking the public for any information that may help identify a male suspect who is wanted by police in connection to a recent shoplifting incident that occurred at the Sobeys grocery store located on Highway 12 North in Steinbach.

The Manitoba government is allocating a total of $240,000 in 2023 to 30 recipients of the Community Museum Project Support Program. Included in the program is the Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach who will be receiving $9,000.

The Steinbach Chamber of Commerce has announced that it will be accepting public nominations for the 2023 Business Excellence Awards starting April 20 and running through May 22, 2023.

Steinbach RCMP are reporting that two individuals were recently charged and fined for street racing. The charges were part of a traffic enforcement effort by police this past weekend.

Steinbach RCMP are currently investigating a theft incident involving some tools being stolen from a parked car. It is believed the incident occurred sometime between the evening of April 1 and the morning of April 3.
