When the Morden super site opens on March 22, COVID-19 vaccine providers will be piloting a new process that is easier and more comfortable for patients, while also significantly increasing the number of vaccines that can be provided in a day.

Eligibility to be immunized at a super site or pop-up clinic have been expanded to include individuals aged 69 or older and First Nation people aged 49 or older. Appointments are currently available at all five super sites in Winnipeg, Brandon, Selkirk, Thompson and Morden. Details about additional pop-up clinics will be provided next week.

Today, eligibility criteria to be immunized at a supersite or pop-up clinic have been expanded to include individuals aged 73 or older and First Nation people aged 53 or older. Appointments are currently available at all five supersites in Winnipeg, Brandon, Selkirk, Thompson and Morden.  Some appointments also remain available at pop-up sites that are taking place this month in locations across the province.

Today, eligibility to be immunized at a super site or pop-up clinic is being expanded to include individuals aged 77 or older and First Nation people aged 57 or older.

As part of the largest immunization campaign in the province’s history, a new milestone was reached as 100,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered.

Eligibility has now expanded to include all congregate living workers aged 40 or older (previously aged 60 or older). On March 11, eligibility expanded to include anyone working in an acute care facility, not just those who have direct contact with patients. Age-based eligibility criteria remain the same including individuals aged 80 or older and First Nation people aged 60 or older.

As more vaccine arrives in Manitoba, the province is opening pop-up clinics in rural and northern communities, and is beginning to distribute vaccine to medical clinics and pharmacies.

The Morden super site, located at the Access Event Centre, will launch on March 22. Individuals who meet provincial eligibility criteria for immunization can begin making their appointments through the call centre today.

To date, 90,927 doses of vaccine have been administered including 60,593 first doses and 30,334 second doses. This week, Focused Immunization Teams (FITs) will visit nearly 3,000 eligible residents at more than 70 sites, administering their first dose of the vaccine.

The first doses of the AstraZeneca/Covishield vaccine are expected to arrive in Manitoba next week and will then be distributed to participating medical clinics and pharmacies. The province is recommending this vaccine be provided to adults aged 50 to 64 years, with priority given to those at increased risk of experiencing serious outcomes.
