On March 8, 2011, at about 11am, Peguis and Fisher Branch RCMP were dispatched to a weapons complaint at the Peguis Central School.
Investigation revealed that a 16-year-old male youth had attended the school and pointed an imitation firearm at a student. The male, who is not a student at the school, then fled the scene. He was later arrested by police at a nearby location.
The 16-year-old male from Peguis FN is facing numerous charges, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and pointing a firearm.
A second male youth, 13 years of age, was also arrested in connection with the incident and is facing charges including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He is also from Peguis FN.
There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident and no shots were fired from the gun.
The firearm was located and was determined to be a replica type pistol capable of firing plastic rounds, commonly referred to as an “Air Soft” type pistol.
Police would like to caution the public that it is an offence to threaten or commit an offence with replica or in this case, “Air Soft” type firearms.
Police continue to investigate.
