Charges have been laid in connection with a fatal motor vehicle collision in the RM of West St. Paul this past November.

On November 10, 2010, Selkirk RCMP as well as local Emergency Services and EMS attended a two vehicle fatal motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 8 and Grassmere Road in the RM of West St. Paul, Manitoba.

Initial investigation revealed that a pick-up truck was southbound on Highway 8 when it collided with a 1996 Ford Taurus that was eastbound on Grassmere Road. The driver of the Ford Taurus, a 22-year-old man from West St. Paul, Manitoba, was deceased at the scene.

After a review of the investigation by the Crown Attorney’s Office, Selkirk RCMP have charged the driver of the pick-up truck, 31-year-old Brad Justin Skawretko, with dangerous driving causing death, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with a blood alcohol content over .08%.

Skawretko is scheduled to appear in Selkirk Provincial Court on April 08, 2011.
