On April 4, 2011, shortly after 12pm, Stonewall RCMP were dispatched to an ATV (Quad) collision on the roadway in front of Warren Collegiate.
RCMP Stonewall Detachment along with local area EMS attended and found a 15-year-old teenage girl laying on the roadway. An Air Ambulance was initially dispatched but canceled since the teenage youth was deemed in stable condition. She was taken to a Winnipeg Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
RCMP discovered that the driver, a 15-year-old boy from the RM of Woodlands, was operating a quad with 3 passengers. When he drove out of the school grounds, the ATV lurched forward and ejected the female victim off onto the roadway.
RCMP report that the 3 passengers, 1 male and 2 females, were also 15-years of age and from the RM of Woodlands.
The driver has been charged and fined under the Off-Road Vehicles Act for driving with more passengers than allowed and driving onto the roadway or shoulder. The quad has been seized under the Highway Traffic Act.
The driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, however, the three passengers were not.
