On April 6, 2011, at about 1pm, Thompson RCMP were dispatched to a Thompson school in response to a report of a firearm being located on the property.
Investigation revealed that 3 students located a firearm in an outdoor location at a school in Thompson. Police were immediately notified by school officials.
The firearm had been modified in a fashion which would cause it to be a prohibited weapon. It was not loaded and appeared to have been exposed to the elements for some time.
No one was seen to be in possession of the firearm and there is no information at this time to indicate that it was brought to the school by a student. There were no injuries in relation to this incident.
