RCMP have charged a Calgary man in a drug related incident after stopping him in a routine traffic checkstop in the RM of Headingley.

On April 2, 2011, just after midnight, Headingley RCMP were conducting a traffic checkstop on Roblin Boulevard in the RM of Headingley, Manitoba. A 2007 Honda Civic from Alberta was stopped and the driver of the vehicle was arrested for possession of a fraudulent drivers licence. There was no one else in the vehicle.

A search warrant was obtained and subsequent investigation revealed a prohibited weapon (knife), a quantity of cash, and approximately 5,000 Oxycodone pills with an estimated street value of approximately $25,000.

RCMP report that a 26-year-old Calgary, Alberta man has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a fraudulent document and possession of proceeds of crime Under $5,000.

Police say that the man has been released from custody and will be scheduled to appear in Manitoba Provincial Court at a later date.
