The Rural Municipality of Ritchot is concerned about pedestrian safety at their busiest intersection in St. Adolphe.
The municipality recently discussed ways they could improve the safety at the corner of Hwy 200 and Hwy 210 in St. Adolphe. Council noted concerns about motorists who do not obey speed regulations, and who do not watch for people that cross the street.
The municipality discussed the possibility to expand the shoulder and install a crosswalk along the east side of Main Street to help alleviate the problem. However it was noted that the province owns the right of way so that matter would have to be taken up with Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation.
It was noted by council that the location would be perfect to set up a school patrol later on when the Perron subdivision is complete.
The RM of Ritchot council continues to work on the matter.
