RCMP have arrested and charged a Cross Lake FN student when he threatened to get a gun after an altercation.
On April 19, 2011, at about 12:50pm, RCMP Cross Lake Detachment were dispatched to a local middle school in Cross Lake FN to a complaint of threats.
RCMP learned that one on the students had been involved in an altercation. As the student left the school, he stated that he would be going to get a gun.
The school was put into lock down while RCMP members could locate the youth in the community. At 2:47 pm, the 14-year-old male youth was located and arrested at a residence (not his own) in Cross Lake. A firearm was seized from his residence.
The youth remains in custody and has been charged with uttering threats and two counts of breach of undertaking. He will be appearing in Thompson court.
