RCMP have arrested and charged two individuals after seizing drugs at a Winnipeg residence last week.
On April 21, 2011, at 9:50am, following an investigation that began in March this year, RCMP Winnipeg Drug Section executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant in the 500 block of Henderson Highway at a residence.
Investigators found and seized 889 marijuana plants in various stages of growth with an estimated street value of $889,000. Also seized was various grow equipment, including lights, bulbs and wiring. The value of the equipment was $25,000.
RCMP report that the entire basement and most of the main floor of the residence was used to grow marijuana.
Two Winnipeg men were arrested and charged in connection with this grow operation. 45-year-old Phuong Hung Nguyen and 54-year-old Loi Van Nguyen will each face charges of production of marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking under the CDSA.
Both were held in custody and are schedule to appear in Winnipeg Court today.
