RCMP have laid charges in connection with a drug seizure that occurred earlier this month in the Town of Virden, Manitoba.
On April 19, 2011, at approximately 1pm, Virden RCMP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence in the Town of Virden, Manitoba.
During the course of the investigation, police seized approximately one ounce of cocaine, 1400 tablets of ecstasy and approximately 2.5 grams of crystal meth. The seized drugs have an estimated street value of over $17,000.
34-year-old Edward Dwayne Volk of Virden has been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of trafficking a controlled substance and one count of possessing the proceeds of crime.
18-year-old Matthew Donald Sexey of Virden has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Two additional adult males were arrested in relation to this incident and are facing charges of possession of a controlled substance.
All of the accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Virden Provincial Court at a later date.
