Prairie Mountain RCMP members report a success, after hosting their 1st Annual Cops for Cancer hockey tournament in Waywayseecappo, Manitoba.
The tournament, held on Sunday, April 10, 2011, consisted of an RCMP team, a team from Waywayseecappo, a team from Gilbert Plains and a team from Rossburn/Russell.
The tournament was a round robin tournament with a skills competition and playoffs to end the day. Gilbert Plains and Waywayseecappo put on a great show for the final game, with Gilbert Plains just edging out Waywayseecappo.
The tournament was a success with numerous donations from local businesses and many helpful volunteers at the rink. The tournament donated just under $1,000 to Cops for Cancer when the day was all said and done.
A special thanks to Russell Home Hardware, Rossburn Home Hardware, Shoal Lake Bigway Foods, Waywayseecappo Food Mart, Rossburn Co-op, Roblin Viterra, Roblin Home Hardware, Roblin McMunn and Yates, Roblin B&P Auto Sales and to Cst. Derek Bjorklund of Waywayseecappo RCMP Detachment for organizing this event, as well as all the RCMP members for their generous donations.
